UNIVERSITIES
Studying in the UK is a great opportunity for those looking to expand their academic and professional horizons. If you are a Spanish student, the entry requirements may seem intimidating at first, but they are actually quite accessible.
In general, you will need to have good high school grades and a sufficient level of English (around 6.5 on the IELTS exam). Each college and career has its own admission requirements, but if you strive to get the best grades possible and submit a good application, you will have a good chance of being admitted. Here are five steps to help you prepare to study in the UK:
- Research the universities and careers that interest you and make sure you meet the entry requirements. Choose five universities that catch your attention and that have the career you want to study. Be sure to research the specific entry requirements for each degree program and university. Some may require you to have taken a specific subject or to have done internships or volunteer work in the field of study you want to study.
- Pay attention to the dates of receipt of applications. The dates for receiving applications generally range between September 15 and January 25 of the year in which you are in 2nd year of Baccalaureate. Make sure you are aware of the deadlines for each college and career you wish to apply to.
- Make sure you have a good level of English. If your level of English needs to improve, you can start preparing for the IELTS. You will need to get more than a 6 for most British universities. If you come from a non-English speaking country, you will need to prove a minimum level of English to be able to study in the United Kingdom. To accredit your level, you must take the official IELTS exam with a score between 6.0 and 7.5 out of 9.
- Collect all necessary documentation. You should collect all the necessary paperwork, such as identification documents, educational attestations, certificates of courses you have taken, diplomas, letters of recommendation, etc. Everything counts, but especially high school grades, 4th year of ESO and volunteering. You will also need an academic reference from your school and a forecast of your 2nd year high school grades. Don’t worry, we will help you throughout the entire process.
- Write your “personal statement”. This is one of the most important requirements and it is crucial to do it very well so that your application is taken into account. The personal statement is a type of motivation letter where you explain why you should be admitted to that specific university and career, why you want to study that degree, etc. The objective is to determine the student’s level of maturity, analytical ability and way of thinking. Our counselors will help you throughout the process to guarantee an optimal result.
